Supplies ambulance and first aid services and instruction to residents of the boroughs of Bally and Bechtelsville and townships of Washington, Douglass-Montgomery and New Hanover. Portions of Hereford Twp. Upper Hanover Twp. (Mont. Co.) are covered.

The premium here is not on winning, except for winning friends. We want to provide good influences for those young people, preparing them to be well rounded individuals, emotionally and physically. It is our desire to see each of the youth become the best person they can be, thereby having the most positive effect on their community.

The Berks VNA provides comprehensive home health services for individuals of all ages. In-home services include; skilled nursing including infusion therapy and wound ostomy and continence therapy; Hospice care; physical, speech and occupational therapies; maternal/child health; nutritional counseling; psychiatric/mental health care; and medical social services. Community services include outreach clinics, support groups and health education programs. Last year, Berks VNA made 90,490 visits to 5,354 clients in our United Way area. Arrangements can be made through our sister organization Advantage Home Care for home health aide, private duty services, and the Emergency Response program.

Boyertown Area Creative Housing (BACH) provides transitional housing and support for families in the Boyertown Area who are homeless or near homeless. In addition to providing housing, the goal of the BACH program is to equip parents with skills that will enable them to better provide for their families when they leave the program. As a result, parents are required to seek further education or job training while in residence at the BACH house.

The mission of Boyertown Area Multi-Service, Inc. is to serve the community by identifying and helping meet the social service and human needs of people of all ages in the greater Boyertown Area, encouraging coordination between local, private, and governmental agencies in the delivery of their services, thereby, providing effective and more available services to local people. Multi-Service provides space to county and state agencies that serve the people of Boyertown Area, coordinates the Meals on Wheels program, operates the Senior Center, transports people to and from Senior Center, operates an emergency food pantry and provides case management services for individuals and families both under 60 years of age and over 60 years of age. There is an energy case manager to help with fuel and electric. Volunteer drivers provide transportation to medical appointments.

The Boyertown Area YMCA provides three Centers, The Daniel B. Boyer Center, 301 W. Spring St., The Gilbertsville Center, 144 HollyDr., Gilbertsville; and The Hendricks Family Center, 3065 N. Infants, youth, teens, adults, families, and senior citizens benefit from a wide variety of innovative wellness programs. Infant through age 5 childcare is offered at Growing Dreams Childcare at the Gilbertsville and Hendricks Family Centers. Part of a nationwide organization, the unpaid volunteers use manpower and equipment in search and rescue efforts and are ready to meet local and national emergencies. The adults motivate youth to the highest ideals of leadership and public service. The nation’s air and space supremacy is furthered through a systematic aerospace education and training program. Over 50 members serve in the organization. The unit is also in Aviation Explorer Post 2807, Boy Scouts of America, in order to enhance their youth program. Adults may also take correspondence courses through the U.S. Air Force’s Air University Extension Course Institute, Gunter Air Force Base, Alabama. Cadets and seniors are also able to take field trips to airfields and attend numerous encampments.

In March of 2003, Gilbertsville Area Community Ambulance Service began providing Advanced Life Support Service to the community. There is an annual family membership drive, proceeds of which are used to maintain the purchase equipment. We offer to the public and business Emergency Responder and CPR classes.

Since 1958, The Salvation Army of Boyertown has been committed to meeting the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of families as well as individuals who are in crisis or “at risk”. Because of the support of the community, The Salvation Army of Boyertown is able to: dispatch the emergency disaster canteen to local fires and emergencies and provide chaplain services to those suffering from those emergencies; have the DMZ teen center opened during the summer and school year; send children to summer camp at Camp Ladore; distribute back to school supplies and backpacks to children and teens; provide Easter and Thanksgiving dinner to those who might be alone or without; provide food boxes and gifts to individuals and families at Christmas; offer Biblical counseling to many folks in need; provide financial assistance, budget counseling and case management and referral services; offer day-old baked goods and other donated items to clients during the weekly “Friday Food Distribution.” The Salvation Army of Boyertown serves persons living within the following zip codes of Eastern Berks County: Hereford, Bally, Barto, Bechtelsville, Boyertown, Earlville, Limekiln, New Berlinville, Oley, Douglassville, and Gilbertsville.
